Pause
There’s a little unplanned pause in my free artwork project, due to school, work and the other work (aka my practicum). I have had little free time to paint lately. It is, quite frankly, driving me insane, but there is something to look forward to: after August 1st, I have three glorious weeks off before school starts again. It’s amazing how only having to go to one job feels like vacation. I’m anticipating painting a lot then, but until then, I might put up a couple of older things.
One thing that has struck me since I began this project is how quickly my standards have changed. I originally thought I would give away a lot of older things, school projects, and the like. But when I look at that stuff, I just can’t seem to do it. I’m pickier than I used to be. I think giving away my artwork has given me a reason to be critical about my work again. This is extremely valuable, so I thank everyone who has claimed a painting and everyone who continues to watch this blog.
I’m actually thinking of giving away some of my sketches and older work away in lots, in case anyone would like to use it in collages. I don’t do collages much, but I think it would be interesting material to use.
Also, I hope to do some more stop motion documenting like above. For that one, I hooked up my Canon Digital SLR camera to a computer, had it take a picture every 30 seconds or so, and then strung the pictures into a video with the command line tool mencoder. I’d like to use something other than the Canon, though, as it is already showing some wear. So I’ll have to figure something else out- maybe a webcam.
